History Repeats-History In The Making

Good music is the kind of music that reaches out to the soul and touches you regardless of what particular genre you like the most. Personally,  I use to love rock, especially Nirvana, which was the first form a music I can remember listening to. Over the years I got more into rap, but I still do love rock,  just not as much as I do rap.The thing I love most about rock is you don't have to rhyme and you can really show your emotions through your instruments and/or voice. This now brings me to History Repeats; as they represent all the things I love about rock. I don't want to be cliche and compare History Repeats to Paramore because the lead singers are both girls, but the comparison is in order. For many reasons other than the obvious, I think their styles aren't alike at all, I only compare the two because my friends who mostly listen to just rap love listening to Paramore, and they share the same feelings towards History Repeats. While listening to their lyrics and their sound it's easy to forget and hard to believe that every member of the band isn't even 20 years old yet.I recently got a chance to listen to their album (unmixed) and it sounded amazing. It's the type of album I'd buy (and I only buy maybe 5 albums a year). That is how much I enjoyed it. Every song I heard has the potentional to be a hit and it wouldn't shock me to hear millions of cars blasting it on the radio during summertime. Out of every musical talent and genre from my hometown, History Repeats is definately one of my favorites and has some of the biggest potential to get a deal.History Repeats will definatley be making some muscial history in the near future. Ed Mickz- King Of The Hill

Chalk full of cocky lyrics filled with swagger that rival Jay-Z himself, Ed Mickz will have you convinced that he is indeed the best out there today. Along with his ability to dismantle any beat you throw at him, it's hard to even put an agrument against that claim. His confidence oozes out through the speakers along with witty punchlines that will put a smile on your face at how clever his wordplay is.Never one to just dwell on himself Mickz puts his hometown from upstate New York on his back , as well always showing love to his team GlewCrew. Their philosophy of "Loyalty Over Loot" is well represented as you can feel their love and respect for one another throughout their music.Exactly how Bad Boy, Roc-A-Fella, Shady/Aftermath,and Cash Money/Young Money had their eras in rap I could see a GlewCrew era added to that list. What seperates Mickz from the pack of unsigned rappers out there is he already has his direction and reached a level of maturity it takes most artists 3 albums to find.Given his age and that he's far from his prime it'll be interesting to see how his style is further developed in the future. His talent seems endless and I'll be sure to bet he will have a big impact on hip-hop for years to come. His sound can't really be comparable, but I'm confident enough to say if he was to jump on a track from any big name rapper he'd be able to hold his own with no sweat. One listen to Ed Mickz and he'll prove exactly why he's the "King Of The Hill".

Deafcon- Get Familiar

Forget for a second about the signed and unsigned predjuice that surrounds most decisions of if this artist is hot or not.People tend to look down on unsigned artists so before you read this forget that misconception and have a clear open mind.I know there's ton of people out there that complain about how the state of hip-hop is in and myself being one of them, but there's still so many  un/discovered talented artists out there. Deafcon is one of the artists I personally feel will have a impact on the game ,while repping his crew G.!.L.K (Get It Live Krew) he seems more polished than most signed rappers out. Where many artists are simply just copying whatever trend is hot( quickly to be forgotten once a new trend sets in), Deaf seems to be above that and has his own identity he wants to sell.Being a great artist to me is getting the listener to feel exactly what was going on in their mind at the time of making the song as Deaf seems very capable of doing. Deafcon paints beautiful pictures throughout his mixtapes and isn't limited to just one subject matter. While many mixtapes nowadays feature a million freestyles and remixes to popular songs with no real point to them, Deafcon adds his own personal perspective and adapts to the beat the way he feels, making you forget for a split second who actually rapped over the original beat.So far Deafcon has released two mixtapes ,"Red Alert Music" and "The Valedictorian"(which are available for a free download) as well as working on his third mixtape titled "Smokescreen" available for download on 4/2o. The sky seems to be the limit for Deafcon and I wouldn't be surprised to see him featured in a future XXL Freshmen class list.(You heard that here first!) So get familiar and take the time out to appericate good music in the making.

XV- Lift The Game

Last year you had Drake, Asher Roth, Charles Hamilton as your freshmen class of 09. This year comes XV. Most people couldn't tell you who XV is or where hes from but all that will soon change. Yet he doesn't have the popularity as Drake had or the large suburban followers as Asher did, XV brings his own new culture. His persona of a square gives him a sorta respectable cool. Hes making video game heads popular while supplying us with passionate rhymes. On his latest track "Lift The Game" he spill his words onto a canvas that Lil Wayne and Eminem excelled on. He does a great job on the track reminding people that talent can be found anywhere. The whole track he reminds his city that hes still here for them with lines like "Im a lift the game up and bring it back to where i fucking live". His message is obvious, "they tell me move to new york like is so fatal/keep your plane ticket/ i bough tow cables/ I'm so able to prove them wrong motherfucker/ cause the kid from small ville is gonna show them all motherfucker" By his music XV portrays exclusion. It seems like he was never in the inner circles and he expresses a lot of these feeling through his music. Keep an eye out on this guy, he will continue to deliver and his following will only get bigger. You can download mixtapes, songs and learn more about XV at www.thekidwiththegreenbackpack.com
